PILE CO., LTD published its first COMMON MAGAZINE in 2006.

Back then, street culture in Japan was still “uncommon”. In 2010, it’s nothing unusual.

Not a day goes by without hearing Hip Hop and R&B on mainstream charts, seeing street artists collaborating with brands or street themed TV shows and ads.

And now, Sendai and the Tohoku area are filled with local yet world-class artists. 　In every issue, COMMON puts a spotlight on these artists in the “HUMAN REPORT” feature.　 It also introduces the local street scene as “common sense,” being just as significant but distinctly unique from Japan’s bigger central metropolis.
